Meet Rev. Blizzard
A father, husband, teacher, pastor
Rev. Linwood Blizzard is a native of Williamsburg, Virginia with deep ancestral roots dating back to the 1700s. He received his B.S from Virginia Tech in chemical engineering before having a long and successful career as a professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, managing multi-million dollar projects in the Richmond area.
In 2009, Rev. Blizzard was called to join the ministry.. He became licensed to preach while also enrolling at Howard University, where he earned a Masters in Divinity. He went on to earn a Masters in Sacred Theology in Religion and Culture and a Doctor of Ministry from Boston University. He was officially ordained in 2015 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Boston.
Rev. Blizzard and his wife Joycelyn of 14 years are the proud parents of three children and integral members of the Heathsville, Virginia community where they currently reside.
Life in the 99th
After his ordination, Rev. Blizzard came back to the 99th District to serve his community and to continue deepening his familial roots. He took on the role as the 16th Senior Pastor of the historic Macedonia Baptist Church in Heathsville, Virginia, where he currently serves. In addition to being a Senior Pastor, Rev. Blizzard also teaches Calculus at Northumberland High School in Heathsville and is an Adjunct Professor of theology at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
Driven to move the Northern Neck forward, Rev. Blizzard quickly became a prominent community leader and activist, taking on roles such as the 1st Vice-President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Neck and of the Northumberland County Branch of the NAACP while also serving as a board member for multiple local organizations.
